Since China is now the world's leading source of Green House gases it looks like the President was right about the whole Kyoto thing.

Looking at the "warming" trend is picking?

Silly Mutt, it's cooling because it's warming.

how many times has it happened on this thread alone - a conservative columnist comes up with an opinion piece that selectively cherry picks something - and these boys get all excited and a little wank-fest ensues.

LOL - not anything like when King Gore preaches about the consensus behind anthropogenic global warming.

Without a doubt, the most convenient issue to ever come along. MMGW is responsible for everything.

y2 - Ok, I'll bite. Forget about the "conservative" "opinion piece. Let's talk about your statement alone.

How many of those record numbers are ties, or downward temperature trends?
Sarge

I think Gore is an ass to be honest - the man need to start practicing a little more of what he preaches. What I would say is that, what shall we call it - the 'Environmental Movement' certainly doesn't see him as some sort of leader, more just a loud voice.

While he has had some influence on the debate, and some applaud him for that, I don't think there's many seeing him as some sort of messiah on this. He's found a bandwagon and jumped on it.

NonC - yes, because the vast vast amount of research on this is concluding that the warming trend is real, happening now, and is at least in some part infleunced by human activities.
Against this is a tiny number of reasearchers and scientists who fly in the face.

As I've said before, I don't know 100% whether man-made global warming is happening. But taking action to reduce emissions, pollutants and reliance on foreign fossil fuels makes sense on so many fronts then you'd be a fool not to encourage it.

I don't know Mutt, I'm sure we could find many loud figures on the right that you share views with, and who become quite high profile in pushing these views, but who you wouldn't class as a some sort of 'king' of the right, or of any issue for that matter.

Some people need there to be a figure, a literal straw man if you like, to knock down. Al Gore has become that.

This tactic rears it's head in almost anything - the concpet of a 'bad man' is easier to get to grips with than dealing with the particular issue.

Maybe I was dreaming ... Did he or did he not get a Nobel Peace prize for his "movement". ... Also, didn't he get like an Academy award or something?

Who put him on those pedestals? The right?

Jesus, Y2. He was given a friggin peace prize by the consensus crowd. He's been hailed as a messiah by the hollywood global warming elite. And his books and movies have sold very well to the global warming pissants like you.

Face it, the global warming consensus crowd LOVES gore. That you try to deny it results in your credibility nosediving.
Mutt

He was given the Nobel peace prize for Raising Awareness of the issue. This doesn't make him a leader - I mean is El Baradei some sort of 'king' of the anti-nuclear movement?

Sarge - you question is framed completely wrong and largely irrelvant to the dicussion. Either you don't understand the issue or do this stuff deliberately.
Lets try a different way - have 9 or the ten warmest years on record occured since 1989?
Y2
11:31:03 AM

Lets try a different way - have 9 or the ten warmest years on record occured since 1989

That would be great, ... if the predictions were not that 2007 (and 2006) (and 2005) ... were predicted to be "the hottest year on record".

The fact is, if global warming is causing global temperatures to continue to rise at an INCREASING RATE ... then each year would get warmer.

That hasn't happened.
Sarge

To be honest Muttly whether you or I think gore is a leader or not has no real baring on things does it - but if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside then sure, 'Gore is my leader, I love him'.

Sarge - I'm not sure if you do it deliberately, but you seem to conveniently miss the entire point. You seem to take it as some sort of weakness that they can't exactly forecast how warm each year will be. This is again part of the pick pick pick.

If you can click the BBC link - this is the important caveat they put in.
They say there is a 60% chance that the average surface temperature will match or exceed the current record from 1998. In the end La Nina kicked in and helped bring temperatures down.

But then realistically, I'm the moron for sitting here arguing about a scientific consensus with a man who thinks evolution is some sort of evil fantasy.

Then this should be a simple question for you. Why do the global warming alarmist scientists use these (incorrect) predictions to make their case, if they are, in fact, irrelevant?

Let's back up.

Global warming ... means (now I'm no earth-scientist) ... that things are getting "warmer". If that isn't happening, how can you call it "global warming"?

Maybe you guys should have picked a different name ... like "global staying the same temperature and sometimes even cooler", or something like that? I don't know. What do you think?

lol - I disagree Y2. The Axis of Idiots are like dogs. Sometimes you have to throw them a pigs ear, or toy to keep them preoccupied, so they don't tear up your furniture. The more time you keep them preoccupied, the less damage they do to productive people, or threads in which people want to have a normal conversation.

Thanks for your sacrifice today Y2!

You seem to bring meds and etoh substances up a lot....maybe you need to look into some help. I have seen it with alot of housewives. Take a little too much Mother's Little Helper and before long you are in a rubber room.

You're the one who brings up the "meds" thing quite a lot.
That's funny for a broken little man who "works" 100 hours per week.
"How does he do it?"

I had twelve days off for the Xmas Break and spent three days in the wild lands of West Virginia and four days in the Adirondacks(that's in New York).

MarkO talking about what it is to be a man - LOL

Any idiot peter-pan can be a slacker and take care of the kids and generally be a housewife. A man on the other hand provides for and takes care of his family in addition to spending quality time with them.
