When you grew up in a luxury condo, spent your 13 months with a body guard in Siagon and lived with a silver spoon in your mouth...you don't understand that taxes are ONLY paid by the consumer.

I got this in an e-mail from NRCM...

Last Tuesday, NRCM released the results of a comprehensive new study of how sea-level rise, caused by global warming, could affect Maine ’s coast. We undertook this study because scientists have become increasingly concerned about melting glaciers and accelerated warming and sea-level rise. What we found was troubling—our coastal economy, environment and many treasured places could be devastated if more is not done to stop global warming. We identified 20 highly vulnerable communities and created detailed maps of some of the most at risk parts of our coast. You can see the maps and learn more on a new section of our website, Effects of Sea-Level Rise in Maine.

Some the losses of major sea-level rise would include:

*Statewide, between 20,000 and 128,000 acres lost,
*Popham Beach and Reid State Park devastated,
*1,000 acres of downtown Portland wiped out,
*Bath Iron Works is submerged,
*Scarborough Marsh completely ruined,
*Hundreds of millions of dollars of property lost, AND
*President Bush’s family home on Walker ’s Point is totally flooded.

A big awwwwwwwww for that last one...

WOW!http://newsbusters.org/node/8249

U.S. based environmental magazine that both former Vice President Al Gore and PBS newsman Bill Moyers, for his October 11th global warming edition of “Moyers on America” titled “Is God Green?” have deemed respectable enough to grant one-on-one interviews to promote their projects, is now advocating Nuremberg-style war crimes trials for skeptics of human caused catastrophic global warming. Grist Magazine’s staff writer David Roberts called for the Nuremberg-style trials for the “bastards” who were members of what he termed the global warming “denial industry.”

LOL....ever watch a brainiac try to light one without shorts on? We had a highschool jock who was showing off in the lockerroom.

We get the call for a burn injury in the local Stadium lockerroom. We are thinking fire, or something. We get there and Junior is in the fetal position with cold towels being applied. The Smell of singed hair filled the air.

At this point professionalisim restricts you from debating if the burned area is really 1% of his body skin.....

Al Gore visits Berkeley, charges up Prop. 87 rally
SAYS MEASURE TO FUND GREEN ENERGY HELPS TACKLE CLIMATE CRISIS
By Rick Jurgens
MediaNews

Former Vice President Al Gore appeared in Berkeley on Monday to lend his celebrity and reputation as a crusader against global warming to a measure on California's Nov. 7 ballot that would tax oil companies to raise $4 billion for green energy projects.

``I'm here to change peoples' minds on the climate crisis and to support Prop 87,'' Gore called to a group of reporters after he emerged from the ``100 miles per gallon'' Toyota Prius that brought him to a noontime rally in a sun-drenched park behind Berkeley's City Hall.

His motorcade also included three motorcycles, two limousines and a Dodge Ram 1500 light duty truck.

Gore, flanked by signs proclaiming Yes on 87 and promoting the Web site of a Berkeley company that installs solar energy systems, spoke to hundreds of supporters who had passed between metal barriers and gathered in front of speakers pulsating rock and reggae music.

Organizers estimated the crowd at 3,000. Police at the scene had no estimate.

Global Warming is a Hoax ...

All regions in U.S. near to or below normal temperature.

In February 2003 no regions above average temperature.

We're talking about NORMAL temperatures - not even "high" temperatures. Think about that.

Also, think about the flooding this week on the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains

earlier this year, the flooding in the Northeastern U.S.

last year, The Gulf Coast

year before last the Gulf Coast, Southern Appalachians and even Death Valley.

Climate change is not just about warming.

lonesurveyor - did you read the thread title? I don't disagree there are climate changes. I've always thought that. You're making our point for us. Thanks.

They have proven that the CO2 level is higher now than at any other time in 800,000 years. And it only started increasing in the last 100-200 years.

This story written by one of Margaret Thatcher's former policy advisers is in response to the report by economist Nicholas Stern which claims that failure to act now could shrink global gdp by up to 20% in the future. Acting now and even making fairly extreme changes will cost around 1% of global gdp.

Global warming causes extreme weather events, sargeXLglo. Temperature highs and lows included. Increased global cloud cover - due to the overall warming - will produce localized lows, too.

To believe that we are free to act as we wish, completely unencumbered by intelligent restraint and be confident our actions can surely result in no undesirable consequences is typical human arrogance.

How to Talk to a Climate Skeptic

Below is a complete listing of the articles in "How to Talk to a Climate Skeptic," a series by Coby Beck containing responses to the most common skeptical arguments on global warming. There are four separate taxonomies; arguments are divided by:

Stages of Denial,
Scientific Topics,
Types of Argument, and
Levels of Sophistication.

The end of the world on the Mayan calender is Dec 21 (I believe it is the 21), 2012. Ironically, that is the point at which we complete a planetary wobble.

IMHO, global warming is a real, natural occurance, that recently has been exascerbated by human activity.
