It must be great to watch your teams win two different national titles in the same year. Too bad Florida won't get a shot at the crown jewel of college sports, the NCAA women's basketball national championship.” 5:49:17 AM 4/03/07 “Someone give me a stake so I can stick it in Stickman's heart! Figuratively speaking of course. I'm joking, I'm joking. I’m not being serious. Don't anybody take me seriously. I’m a sick and twisted soul and people need to discount what I say. In all seriousness… Thank you Wounded, Dunadan, Stick, and Nigal (I think)....and violin (My you're up early this morning. Your post hit while I was still typing). Your congrats are heartfelt and I appreciate your support. It sure is a great time to be a FLORIDA GATOR!!! I just can’t understand why chili wasn’t the first one here congratulating Florida. I’m scratching my head about that one. I’m half awake this morning. I was soaking up the atmosphere in G-Ville late last night. Last night I was thinking about something really smarta$$ to post about how Florida saved the Columbus police the trouble of having to deal with the rioting, burning furniture, and overturned cars that Ohio State fans are famous for after championships…when all of a sudden what do I hear in the distance? I hear the wailing of police and ambulance sirens. I haven’t read the paper this morning so I don’t know what the trouble was. Florida fans have a history of jubilant, but mostly peaceful, celebrations. Don’t ya know, there’s always a couple. I’m sure we’ll all find out today. No Stove Stomper, that wasn’t me streaking nekkid down Main Street. TEAM! That’s what these Florida Gators epitomized. It’s something rare and beautiful to behold in this day of the superstar. They showed how the game CAN be played when everyone works together for a common goal and gels as a TEAM. Those kids love each other. Those kids are such fun-loving class acts. They represent Florida well. And I think Ohio State represented their school EXTREMELY well. Just when I thought Florida was going to really run away with it, Ohio State kept fighting back. Oden was a monster. Conley is a real talent. If the two of them stick around, Ohio State’s future will be bright. I’ve got all sorts of friendly comments for Buddha… if he ever crawls out from under his rock. Where is my little butt-puppet? last edited: 4/03/07 6:17:02 AM” 6:15:11 AM 4/03/07 “I just can’t understand why chili wasn’t the first one here congratulating Florida. I’m scratching my head about that one. Hmmm, I don't know. Could it be that chili actually has a life outside of TT? Think about that one for a while. Congrats to the Gators who proved SEC basketball is tops in the Nation. Good luck to Rutgers women, but not too much.” 8:09:47 PM 4/03/07 “It aint over until the fat lady sings...but while she warms up....we are singing this in Tennessee as we await our 7th...yes 7th National Title. Wish that I was on Ole Rocky Top, Down in the Tennessee Hills. Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top, Ain't no telephone bills. Once there was a girl on Rocky Top, Half bear the other half cat. Wild as a mink, sweet as soda pop, I still dream about that. Rocky Top, you'll always be Home sweet home to me. Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee. Once two strangers climbed on Rocky Top, Lookin' for a moonshine still. Strangers ain't come back from Rocky Top, Guess they never will. Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top, Dirt's too rocky by far. That's why all the folks on Rocky Top Get their corn from a jar. Rocky Top, you'll always be Home sweet home to me. Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee. Now I've had years of cramped up city life, Trapped like a duck in a pen. Now all I know is it's a pity life Can't be simple again. Rocky Top, you'll always be Home sweet home to me. Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee. Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee. Yeah Rocky Top Tennesee eee eee eee.” 9:21:05 PM 4/03/07 “Ahh well... It was a great run but the Lady Vols simply out-hustled us from the opening tipoff. Congrats and I hope you bet your entire paycheck so you can finally afford a pair of shoes.” 5:26:09 AM 4/04/07 “It was a great run for a very young Rutgers team. You’ve got to think that the team will be better next year unless they all jump early for the big money of the pros. It certainly was an amazing accomplishment for the VOLS and Pat Summitt. This just proves that Tennessee is a great women's school. What I can’t understand is how folks who pay no telephone bills can’t afford shoes? They must be spending a lot of money getting corn from a jar and buying donkeys. That’s a dangerous combination. The state of Tennessee probably has strict Donkeying Under the Influence laws. last edited: 4/04/07 6:42:05 AM” 6:41:13 AM 4/04/07 “Dateline Florida April 3 2007 Biologists Worried About Gators Future A recent study has shown there has been a major change in the North American Alligator's diet. They are now feeding exclusively on a little brown nut called a buckeye. Biologists are concerned because the alligators, who have roamed this earth for millions of years, are native to the swampy southern most parts of the United States and the Buckeye tree is native to the Midwest. To help the gators scientist have created two annual feeding frenzies one call the BCS and the other called the Final Four.” 7:01:26 AM 4/04/07 “A gem from the UF student newspaper, The Independent Florida Alligator: "We beat them in football and basketball and they brought their girlfriends and wives and we'll probably take them too," said Jim Rozier, who attended Gators football games as a child in the '60s. "Florida should annex Ohio because we own them." … http://www.alligator.org/pt2/070403atmosphere.php I propose that we take up a collection for all the Tennessee folks here. I know for a fact that Tennessee folks can’t afford shoes after hiking with chili. He was wearing goober-looking bright yellow clod-hoppers that were full of holes. He obviously had scrounged them out of the bin at the local Salvation Army. They looked like they had been dropped there by some down-on-his-luck alcoholic clown. It was sad, man, it was just sad to watch.” 12:00:18 PM 4/04/07 “Those particular shoes got shipped to Arkansas.” 1:32:19 PM 4/04/07 “Good for you, chili. The first step is admitting there's a problem. Looking like a goober is a problem, even for someone from Tennessee. GO VOLS!!! Uh oh. Mr. Quotable is back in the news: Spurrier can't hide glee By PAT DOOLEY Sun sports writer Gator fans were still buzzing about the basketball team's back-to-back-to-back national titles in basketball and football Tuesday morning. That includes the one in Columbia, S.C., who was getting ready to tee it up when he called both Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley and basketball coach Billy Donovan to offer his congratulations. "That's an amazing basketball team," said South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier in a cell phone call to The Sun. "Billy has done an unbelievable job with them." The former UF ball coach slipped in a "we" when twisting the knife into Ohio State, which lost both the football and basketball championships to Florida. "We've kind of turned Ohio State into Runner-up U., haven't we?" said Spurrier, a Gator alumnus. http://www.gainesville.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007704040371&source=email” 3:17:37 PM 4/04/07 “spurrier - the king of stabbing one liners!” 3:22:01 PM 4/04/07 “Get thee behind me, Stickman. Donovan will stay put as Florida coach By Andy Katz ESPN.com Updated: April 5, 2007, 1:38 PM ET http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2826756” 12:56:24 PM 4/05/07 “Who takes this open position then?” 1:00:29 PM 4/05/07 “wow, i just found out a friend of mine got offered the assistant's job at iowa under their new coach Todd Lickliter...he coached under him at Butler” 1:04:38 PM 4/05/07 “Did he take it?” 1:06:34 PM 4/05/07 “he was just offered it today...he's gonna "sit on it for a while"...he just took an assistant job at IUPUI and just got engaged so he's got a lot on his plate right now last edited: 4/05/07 1:15:42 PM” 1:14:08 PM 4/05/07 “Very Cool, thrifty. Will you get tickets? Bowden Files: Times have changed By Terry Bowden, Yahoo! Sports April 3, 2007 You had better get used to it: If Florida wins a second NCAA men's basketball title to go along with its current football title, the school will reach a level of success unparalleled in NCAA history. With the best teams in the two most important college sports, two of the best young coaches in America, annual revenues of $82.4 million, one of the most fertile recruiting areas in the country and a president and athletic director that clearly are committed to winning championships in every varsity sport, the Gators are not going away any time soon. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=Ave_nd5Uc3GFDT2tHUP318YcvrYF?slug=tb-bowdenfiles&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Meyer marketing UF When asked about the basketball team's performance in the Final Four, Meyer used the opportunity to do a little self-promotion for UF athletics. "I don't know how good a job we do marketing our school," Meyer said. "Someone laid a piece of paper on my desk telling how our basketball team is 100 percent graduation rate and our football team in 80 percent graduation rate, No. 1 out of 56 bowl teams. "You'd think that's kind of important information in this day and age, so I'll say it again. We're No. 1 out of 56 bowl teams in the country and our basketball team was 100 percent graduation rate. We need to market our program a little better." http://www.gainesville.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070404/GATORS01/704040372/-1/sports last edited: 4/05/07 3:47:29 PM” 3:46:01 PM 4/05/07 “That KY job is a lot like the AL football job was. I am sure they just hate the multi millions that they got paid in salary.” 10:01:59 AM 6/01/07 “This news about Donovan is: ”10:09:11 AM 6/01/07 “Will Urban be far behind????” 10:40:24 AM 6/01/07 “Let's hope so!” 10:47:24 AM 6/01/07 “Crap, I meant, "Let's hope not!"” 11:22:35 AM 6/01/07 “Do any of U C L A?” 11:29:40 AM 6/01/07 “HOGS!” 4:24:19 PM 6/01/07 “Exciting game last night, BowlderMan. Plenty of talent on both sides. Its a shame Epiphany didn't let it go into overtime.” 5:05:45 AM 11/12/07 “Geez, I forgot that was on! B-Son was flipping channels around - hey, dad, look, the Stanford women's game is on. Oh, crap, that's right, they're playing at Rutgers! Too bad she made that foul - all she had to do was just walk away and it would be overtime. Not even Wiggins could have heaved the ball that far and made a basket. Next big game for us is at home vs. Tennessee on 12/22 I think.” 6:16:08 AM 11/12/07 “The Jayhawk men need to tighten up their defense before they start playing the big boys. The offense seems to be running like a well-oiled machine right now. It's gonna be another exciting season for the Jayhawks.” 6:54:27 AM 11/12/07 “So far I have seen Tennessee and Memphis in action. They both look awesome. What a collision that will be when they meet. WTF happened to Bama last night?” 6:58:44 AM 11/20/07 “Until further notice, Dunadan, representative of all things Jayhawk on this thread, will be uncharacteristically postponing his posts until after the KU-Misery football game. It will be at that time that he can actually begin breathing again. Thank you for your patience.” 7:59:12 AM 11/20/07 “WTF happened to Bama last night?” chili 8:58:44 AM 11/20/07 Belmont is what happened to them.” 8:08:40 AM 11/20/07 “Bama so far sucks in basketball (M&W) and football for the 07-08 school year. Updates to be forwarded as future sports seasons start. Roll Tide.” 8:11:37 AM 11/20/07 “Illinois looked pretty composed spanking ASU last night in the Maui tourny. Let's see how they fair against Dook tonight.” 8:47:56 AM 11/20/07 “Go IU Basketball!” 9:26:29 AM 11/20/07 “bah!” 9:31:00 AM 11/20/07 “Here you go hub, he he he he http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/luke_winn/11/14/rivals1/index.html” 11:28:45 AM 11/20/07 “I'm trying to bite my tongue WK. I have always had a decent level of respect for the IU bball program, and I pulled really hard for them in 2002, but it pretty much all evaporated when they chose to hire Sampson. Sampson gets slapped with NCAA sanctions for cheating, gets hired by IU, promises to run a clean program and never cheat again, then almost immediately gets caught cheating again in blatant violation of his sanctions. What does IU do? At least get rid of the dirtbag and try to unsully themselves? No, they fire an assistant coach as a scapegoat. The Gordon thing is a separate issue but it definitely exacerbated my feelings concerning the above. I don't know who contacted whom first about Gordon going back on his verbal. For all I know 90% of the blame lies with the Gordon camp. The fact is that as late as a week before he reneged on his verbal, Gordon told Illinois that all was good and he was coming to Champaign. He really fukced Illinois. Sampson may not have had anything to do with the way the Gordon camp handled the situation, but he showed a complete lack of class and decorum by not contacting Weber when he started recruiting a player that already verballed elsewhere. That's not the way basketball coaches act in the Big 10. I'll resume biting my tongue now.” 8:15:27 AM 11/21/07 “Oh, and Illinois backcourt just couldn't get it done against Dook last night. Too much Henderson and Nelson to handle. Those guys are good.” 8:18:27 AM 11/21/07 “The game between IU and IL in Champain is going to be interesting.” 8:39:34 AM 11/21/07 “Yea it will be interesting. There is no way Weber will stand for any premeditated crap on the court, but I hope the Illinois fans don't go over the top with hating on Gordon and Sampson. There is going to be plenty of press coverage for that game as well as the one at IU. Either team could come away from their home game against the other with a figurative black eye (maybe a literal one too).” 9:23:54 AM 11/21/07 “I hope things don't get ugly either. I see a stoopid fan pulling something before a player does.” 9:31:38 AM 11/21/07 “KU answered the bell against Arizona. The Jayhawks have a lot of experience and seem to like the big-game challenge early in the season. Will early season success translate into a deep tournament run???? Keep watching this space. Hey, Hub and WK. I have been to a couple of Kansas State vs Kansas games in the K-State gym where batteries and quarters pelted the Jayhawk players. Last season there were an army of security guards and a few ejections. This kind of behavior takes the joy out of the game, for sure.” 7:46:59 PM 11/25/07 “Hey bateauxdriver - Are you a women's basketball fan? That was another great game between LSU and Rutgers.” 5:13:53 AM 11/26/07 “Knocking down two top 5 teams in one week? Way to go Rutgers! ![]() ”6:41:07 PM 12/04/07 “KU men, undefeated. KU women, 9-1. Pretty good season so far.” 8:57:19 AM 12/18/07 Jump to Page << prev
