Thank you Wounded, Dunadan, Stick, and Nigal (I think)....and violin (My you're up early this morning. Your post hit while I was still typing). Your congrats are heartfelt and I appreciate your support. It sure is a great time to be a FLORIDA GATOR!!!

I just can’t understand why chili wasn’t the first one here congratulating Florida. I’m scratching my head about that one.



I’m half awake this morning. I was soaking up the atmosphere in G-Ville late last night.

Last night I was thinking about something really smarta$$ to post about how Florida saved the Columbus police the trouble of having to deal with the rioting, burning furniture, and overturned cars that Ohio State fans are famous for after championships…when all of a sudden what do I hear in the distance? I hear the wailing of police and ambulance sirens. I haven’t read the paper this morning so I don’t know what the trouble was.

Florida fans have a history of jubilant, but mostly peaceful, celebrations. Don’t ya know, there’s always a couple. I’m sure we’ll all find out today. No Stove Stomper, that wasn’t me streaking nekkid down Main Street.




TEAM! That’s what these Florida Gators epitomized. It’s something rare and beautiful to behold in this day of the superstar. They showed how the game CAN be played when everyone works together for a common goal and gels as a TEAM. Those kids love each other. Those kids are such fun-loving class acts. They represent Florida well.

And I think Ohio State represented their school EXTREMELY well. Just when I thought Florida was going to really run away with it, Ohio State kept fighting back. Oden was a monster. Conley is a real talent. If the two of them stick around, Ohio State’s future will be bright.

“It was a great run for a very young Rutgers team. You’ve got to think that the team will be better next year unless they all jump early for the big money of the pros. It certainly was an amazing accomplishment for the VOLS and Pat Summitt. This just proves that Tennessee is a great women's school.


What I can’t understand is how folks who pay no telephone bills can’t afford shoes? They must be spending a lot of money getting corn from a jar and buying donkeys.

That’s a dangerous combination. The state of Tennessee probably has strict Donkeying Under the Influence laws.

He was wearing goober-looking bright yellow clod-hoppers that were full of holes. He obviously had scrounged them out of the bin at the local Salvation Army. They looked like they had been dropped there by some down-on-his-luck alcoholic clown. It was sad, man, it was just sad to watch.”

Spurrier can't hide glee

Gator fans were still buzzing about the basketball team's back-to-back-to-back national titles in basketball and football Tuesday morning.

That includes the one in Columbia, S.C., who was getting ready to tee it up when he called both Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley and basketball coach Billy Donovan to offer his congratulations.

"That's an amazing basketball team," said South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier in a cell phone call to The Sun. "Billy has done an unbelievable job with them."

The former UF ball coach slipped in a "we" when twisting the knife into Ohio State, which lost both the football and basketball championships to Florida.

"We've kind of turned Ohio State into Runner-up U., haven't we?" said Spurrier, a Gator alumnus.

Meyer marketing UF

When asked about the basketball team's performance in the Final Four, Meyer used the opportunity to do a little self-promotion for UF athletics.

"I don't know how good a job we do marketing our school," Meyer said. "Someone laid a piece of paper on my desk telling how our basketball team is 100 percent graduation rate and our football team in 80 percent graduation rate, No. 1 out of 56 bowl teams.


"You'd think that's kind of important information in this day and age, so I'll say it again. We're No. 1 out of 56 bowl teams in the country and our basketball team was 100 percent graduation rate. We need to market our program a little better."

I have always had a decent level of respect for the IU bball program, and I pulled really hard for them in 2002, but it pretty much all evaporated when they chose to hire Sampson. Sampson gets slapped with NCAA sanctions for cheating, gets hired by IU, promises to run a clean program and never cheat again, then almost immediately gets caught cheating again in blatant violation of his sanctions.

What does IU do? At least get rid of the dirtbag and try to unsully themselves? No, they fire an assistant coach as a scapegoat.

The Gordon thing is a separate issue but it definitely exacerbated my feelings concerning the above. I don't know who contacted whom first about Gordon going back on his verbal. For all I know 90% of the blame lies with the Gordon camp. The fact is that as late as a week before he reneged on his verbal, Gordon told Illinois that all was good and he was coming to Champaign. He really fukced Illinois.

Sampson may not have had anything to do with the way the Gordon camp handled the situation, but he showed a complete lack of class and decorum by not contacting Weber when he started recruiting a player that already verballed elsewhere. That's not the way basketball coaches act in the Big 10.

I'll resume biting my tongue now.”

Hey, Hub and WK. I have been to a couple of Kansas State vs Kansas games in the K-State gym where batteries and quarters pelted the Jayhawk players. Last season there were an army of security guards and a few ejections. This kind of behavior takes the joy out of the game, for sure.”
