“Anyone see the IU/Duke game last night? IU put up a good fight and was leading at one point in the 2nd half, but couldn't stop them.

Early pick for the National Championship has to be Duke. So many weapons!

“I will be rooting for Rutgers this year and would be happy if they win all the rest of their regular season games. That would only help Illinois' RPI.

IU, WK? Puleeeze. Did that Indiana St. loss sting? ;^) I'll give some credit to the Missouri Valley Conference in that they look pretty well balanced this year. But they're still a mid-major.

This is going to be a fun year to see how things shape up in the B10. If MSU starts playing some consistent defense, they will be hard to beat. IU and UI will be in contention for the conference crown too. I don't think OSU or Michigan is quite there yet. Iowa, well they're just pretenders. Wisky might be good, but who have they played (and beat)??? I'll give them more credit if they come away with a win at Pit this weekend.”

“I don't really pay much attention to basketball, especially while football is on. Now that football season is officially over, I guess I'll have to start paying attention. UF does have one of the best athletic programs in the country.

Are the GATORS any good this year? Where are they ranked?”

“Hey, arc - GATORS are probably more suprising an undefeated team than Illinois is - and not too many expected UI being 15-0 at this point.

Problem is that the GATORS are going to need to win EVERY game in the sucky SEC to maintain a decent RPI. GATORS have a pretty cupcake schedule coming up. Better hope they win out their next several games to maintain some credibility.”

“That's my perspective, hubcap. They played Syracuse and Wake Forest when both were ranked in the mid teens. Now Syracuse is unranked and Wake is 23. So they haven't really played anyone yet.

And you are right about the SEC being weak. The SEC has never been a very strong basketball conference. A few years they've done well, but not often. Kentucky is one of the most successful college basketball programs, but their situation reminds me of those college football programs that play in conferences like the big 10 and the old big 8 that only have a couple of consistently good teams. And this may be a down year for #19 Kentucky too.

The Gators will begin SEC play as the favorite. That's not very strong considering they started the season unranked.

They lost three good players and are very young this year. I've only seen them play one game but was impressed. It's not a couple of hotshots and supporting players. They seem to be playing as a complete team. They're unselfish and have great team chemistry.

My initial impression is that they may make it to the third round of the tournament this year, but that they may become pretty good in a couple of years.

Billy Donovan is a classy guy and a good coach. Urban Meyer is a classy guy and a good coach. Pat McMahon (remember he took the Gators to the championship game against Texas in baseball) is a classy guy and a good coach...

I detect a pattern here.”

When GATOR football once again ascends to it's accustomed position, we should improve on our #6 National All Sport Ranking.

All we need to do is field water polo, field hockey, fencing, rifle, skiing, bowling, lacrosse, wrestling, hockey, and rowing teams to keep up with Stanford, Texas, UCLA, Michigan, and Duke.”

“I'm proud of Bama. They're turning into a team. Our best player goes down and we win 3. This wasn't a me type of player either where you better without them. This was our best player and our leader. Bama was down by 13 with 13 minutes to go. We whittle it down to 3. Our PG is 3 feet beyond the top of the key, gets the defender in the air, draws the foul, and hits 3 to send it in overtime. 20 seconds to go in overtime the same player holds the ball and drives with 3 sec to go. He hits the lefthanded layup, gets fouled, sinks it and Bama wins against Arkansas.”

I must say though that I did lose some respect for Indiana with the way Killingsworth acted and the way Davis seemed to applaud it in his half time interview.”
