“Now that I think about it, I have been to two games at Auburn. They just weren't against UA. I went to Auburn v. Southern Miss back when Brett Favre played. It was student recruiting invitation. I also got to go to Auburn v. Mississippi State two years ago and got to sit in the Presidents box. It was pretty fun, albeit uptight. I went with my brother-in-law. The next month he went to UA-MSU and sat in the Budweiser box. Now I bet that would've been a good time. Auburn has a nice stadium, but I'm biased. My firm did the last major addition several years ago. I would love to go to a basketball game at either Lexington or Knoxville. Going to a game that's twice as big as Coleman Col. would be impressive.”

“Yeah, I would love to go to Chapel Hill. I would even go to Durham to stare into the eyes of the beast, if I had the chance.”

Yeah, it really isn't easy for teams to remain at the top. There are some abvious advantages that some universties have, but it still takes a lot of work to be the best. Unlike Alabama, you can't just buy the players, (that's a joke, dayhiker).
I am trying to get a good friend of mine, who is a Missouri fan, to get some tickets for us. It will be fun to be wearing a KU shirt in the middle of a bunch of rabid Tiger fans, as long as my friend, (6'5" 240lbs) stays close to me.”

I have actually had Alabama-Auburn parties at my house to watch the game with about a 50/50 split. One of the guys even played at Auburn. Nothing was broken and not many harsh words were exchanged(kidding). It was great fun.”

“At the last KU-K-State football game, the only guy that was seriously harrassed, (that I saw), was a dude wearing one of those silly half KU, half K-State hats. A few guys behind him kept knocking it off, much to the delight of the crowd. They even showed it on the big screen and everyone cheered.
It ain't right to show up to a rivalry with a hat like that. Be big enough to cheer for one team or the other.”

“arc, I think I can get some tickets. If I go to work on it now, I might be able to find a couple for the last game of the season. LOL.

I would be more than happy to entertain you in Knoxville and since I am in a spirit of generosity, I would say you could even wear your "Gator" shirt. However, I do want to make the following disclaimer (for liability purposes):

Last game of the season? Don't you guys play Bama last? You should probably reserve that game for dayhiker. If you meant bowl game, thank you but I'll pass, chili. I've been to the Citrus Bowl before.”

“LOL. I cringe at the thought of the Citrus again arc. Actually, either Kentucky or Vanderbilt will be the last home game, I need to check the schedule.”

“The UT-UA game has historically been the third Saturday in October. Goodness man, they even have books about it. The SEC messed with the schedule a while back and it was on a different schedule. I think they have it back in the correct slot. Now if we could just buy a win(oops) all would be right with the world.”

“Congratulations, Dayhiker. Sorry Arc. That was a wild game. If they had played at Fla, I think it would have turned out the other way. A little slip-up on defense on that last play, huh?

“Yes, UC baby. They look like they could do any team some damage right now. Huggins is up for coach of the year, (as is Roy Williams, I might add). I remember when Cincy used to come to Henry Levitt Arena on a regular basis and go to war with Wichita State. Good old Mo-Val days.”

“I believe you're right Dunadan. If we'd played if Florida we'd have gotten beat. I think this game was extremely important for our program. You could tell that by the amount of fans on the court after the game. I still can't believe we gave up a 20-2 run. If Bonner and Nelson hadn't picked up those fourth fouls we never would have been able to chip away at the lead. Overall good game to watch. Condolences to arc. I think both teams are still considered 2 seeds. I'll take it.”

Big scare in Lincoln. I can't believe we won after they canned 18 three pointers.
How did everyone else's teams do?”

“Memphis beat DePaul to set up the big showdown with Cincy. I hope we can at least avoid getting embarrassed. After that game, we turn around for the C-USA tournament which could very well result in a repeat meeting with Cincy a week later.”

“You've got a mountain to climb, there, Chili. Cincy is playing with a lot of confidence. Man, Depaul is about to fall off of the map.
You gonna get any bets going with Prowler on the game, Chili?”

“Is Kansas changing their battle cry to "Rock Chalk Squeek Halk"? That looked like a heart attack game!”

“If I knew if the "good" Memphis team would show up,,,and I got a double handful of points, I might, just might, be tempted to place a small wager on the game. However, if the "bad" Memphis team shows up, then points really won't do me much good.

I think the best case scenario for Memphis is to have a strong showing against Cincy. If they follow that with a good run to the finals of the conference game, then we might improve our seeding substantially.”

“A hockey game broke out at Saturday's Ritgers-Seton Hall game when a Seton Hall player grabbed a fast-breaking Rutgers player by the shoulder when he was going in for a lay-up after a steal and flung him to the ground.

“Geez, what a weekend. I slept through THE game. I believe that it was a slip up on the part of my alarm clock, Dunadan.

Dayhiker and I have been emailing each other about it. What an exciting game. I'll bet it's good to be a Bama fan right now.”

“Violin, sounds like they had the "no lay-up rule" in effect. When KU plays Missouri, they usually play with the knowledge that if you go for a lay-up, you go at your own peril.
Squeak Hawk will do until the next game. I am just proud that the team could pull it out. The Nebraska fans were shell-shocked. They were all ready to run on the court, and then two of our reserves decided to win the game.
When I stopped watching the Bama-Fla game, it was a lopsided score in Fla's favor. We walked downtown and I walked into a store just in time to see Bama score the last basket. I could not believe my eyes. Alabama has the possibility of getting a #1 seed. I read that the SEC is rated the toughest basketball conference, this year. Congratulations!
Cincinatti is a #1 seed, unless they trip up in the last few games. I'll be watching for that Memphis-Cincy score.

“Some folks on a bama board I read are starting to refer to Vitale as Duke Vitale. Sounds fitting to me.”

“I love it when Duke gets the ink. I want my team to come in under the radar as much as posssible. I do predict that Duke will not make it to the Final Four, but don't tell anyone I said so.”

“Vitale is always pro Duke or NC. How is the Nolan saga playing out elsewhere?”

“Dick Vitale slammed Memphis when we went to the Final Four in '85. I still have my "Dick Vitale Sucks" t-shirt.”

“Nolan Richardson was a little hot under the collar. Any Ark fans out there know the scoop? Sounds like they need some black reporters in Fayetteville so that Nolan can relax. I would love to know what led up to this.”

“Nolan always plays the racial card at least once a year. If anyone challenges his authority he usally blows up. The guy gets paid $1,000,000 a year to coach basketball. It's hard to feel sorry for someone who makes more money in 1 year than some of us will make in a lifetime. Look for AR basketball to be included in a show coming up on ESPN about zero graduation rates.”

“Arky, thanks for your opinion. I have thought, in the past, that Nolan likes to bang on the race isssue. I was just wondering what prompted him this time. He might be justified. I have read a quote from him about black basketball players that would have gotten a white coach fired.”

“My Bama boys narrowly escaped Auburn last night. Auburn got it to 1 point with about 65 seconds to go. Way too close for comfort.

I saw a clip about Nolan last night. What's under his saddle all of the sudden?”

“Senior night at Allen Fieldhouse. It's gonna be hard not having Jeff Boshee on our team next year. The North Dakota Kid broke down when he said goodbye to coach.
And, we whupped up on K-State. I am looking forward to the Mildcats getting stronger, so that our rivalries will be like in times past.
Missouri next for us. This is a scary one.
Cincinatti got beat by Louisville. Nobody saw that coming.
Arkansas is handling this flap with Nolan behind closed doors, and who could blame them?”

“Well, it's the worst case scenario for Memphis. We travel to Cincy on Sunday. I have a suspicion there will be some BearCats there with a hatchet after their loss last night to the Cards.”

“yall need to beat Cincy so yall can get in the tourney and so we can get a #1 seed. I will feel your pain if you don't get in. We were 21-10 and had to stay home. Last time I looked yall were 22-7. How does that not get you in?”

“day hiker, I think we will get in. However, I think the biggest challenge will be in improving our seed. Having to play Alabama or Florida in the first round could be ugly. If we can work our way up to say a 9 or 10 seed, our odds of making the Sweet 16 would improve substantially. I think Memphis is good for one upset in the Tournament. However, I just hope we don't have to rely upon that in the first game.”

“I had heard 9-10 seed and then I saw where yall were on several bubble lists. When I saw the bubble thing I was very surprised.”

“If we don't make a good showing against Cincy followed by a strong run in the C-USA tourny, then we will probably be a 15 or 16 seed. A blow out at Cincy and a first round loss in the tourny could possibly result in the NIT.”

“Freakin Cards!!! That loss really hurt!!! Hopefully, that loss will stoke fire in my 'Cats. Logan threw the game away. A total breakdown when you least expect it. Its better to have that loss now than later.”

“Let me be the first to say goodbye, Nolan. You have been a great coach with a record that can't be questioned. You have taken some programs to new heights and you have kept Arkansas a great team for a long time.
I would love to get an explanation of why you bring up the race issue. If there is a definite incident, or incidents, that prompt your outrage, then I think everyone would benefit from knowing about it. Let's get it out in the open. However, if much of this is just your perception, or the insignificant acts of a few racist ignoramuses, wouldn't it be better for you and your team to be bigger than your attacker and walk on with your head held high? I don't know your situation, but I would love for you to let us know the whole story.
And, if there are any great black players out there, Lawrence, Kansas is a great place for a social life. If you were thinking of going to Arkansas, you might want to consider Kansas, instead.”

“On another note. KU is playing Missouri tomorrow and I need all of you guys to send all of your positive energy to my team in Columbia, Missouri. Thankyou for your support. It will be returned in like kind.”

“Bama could've used some of that positive energy today. We sucked and got beat by 28 or 29. We were down 18 quick and then whittled it down to 11 with about 4 to go in the 1st half. Ole Miss goes on an 11-0 run and we're down by 22. We were never in it after than. Last year they beat us by about 34 there. I guess that means we've improved?”

“Wow, Dayhiker, I was saying to my wife, "I know a guy who is not going to be happy about this". I was shocked at how quickly Ole Miss got up on Bama. Now, it's on to the conference tournaments!
Chili, Memphis gave Cincy all they could handle. That was a great game. Congrats to the Cincy team and Prowler.
Jayhawks go undefeated in conference play! That is almost impossible. Missouri loves to knock us off, especially when we are ranked #1. I just wish they would play like that in the Big Dance.
Florida has lost two close ones. Those can take some of the wind out of your sails. Sorry, Arc, I was pulling for them. Kentucky is a dangerous team, and Tubby can coach with the best of them.”

“Memphis looked good. A key rebound or two and the game could have gone the other way. Cincy played like a champion. Never gave up and came through when they needed to. The C-USA tournament should be exciting.”

“I was really pulling for Memphis. I thought they were going to pull it out. Maybe that game will put them over the hump. What the hell happened to Alabama? Did someone spike their water?”
