We get another week to tune up. Tulane tomorrow, UAB Sat, and the Cardinals a week from today. Too bad we don't play them here.” 8:24:55 AM 2/12/03 “ESPN has declared BAMA the W1E - Worst #1 ever. Not a good distinction to have. I don't think he's on the hot seat yet. He brought us from the depths of perenial 14-17 records under Hobbs to the #1 ranking, even if short lived.” 8:56:32 AM 2/12/03 1:21:18 PM 2/12/03 “wow chilie, i didn't hear about that. great game on twixed arkansas and tennasee right now!” 8:26:34 PM 2/12/03 “Vols get past Arkansas. Memphis has to play a very pi$$ed off Louisville team next week.” 8:18:29 AM 2/13/03 “we played respectable at least. we're gonna be hot$h!!t in 2 years...but untill then, i'll pull for memphis witcha chilie... GO .....uhhhm what are we again? tigers er sumpthin?” 8:22:33 AM 2/13/03 “LOL,,,,Tigers is right, dewd.” 8:23:53 AM 2/13/03 “Florida/Tennessee Bama/Auburn LSU/Kentucky Arkansas/S. Carolina Ol' Miss/Miss St. Goood weekend. Tennessee is hot. Ron Slay is hot. But Florida has the firemen to smother that flame. Sorry chili, your boys are goin' dowwwwwwwn! Christian Drejer is finally contributing some valuable minutes. If Florida ever hits on all cylinders, watch out! We'll know a great deal about this team when Kentucky comes to here to Hogville.” 5:24:29 AM 2/14/03 “My sympathies to you, Dayhiker, for having your team dissed like that. The number one ranking is just the kiss of death this year, anyway. I'd say that anyone who plays strong and gets to the tournament could make some noise, because there are so many teams with a lot of talent and no team that is clearly superior to the rest. Just ask Louisville. Ha, ha, ha, ha..... Who would have picked the Billikens over the Cardinals??? Must have been a wild game. I agree with Chili, that it will be hard to beat them after that loss. Did you know that Louisville has never been ranked NO. 1 during the regular season, even though they have won the national championship a couple of times? KU vs Iowa State this Saturday. KU should handle them, but I hope they don't go to sleep. We celebrate 105 years of basketball, and we invite all the past players and coaches to attend. It is quite a spectacle seeing all of these guys in one place.” 6:58:17 AM 2/14/03 On another note..... “Kansas AD, Al Bohl is getting into hotter and hotter water. Fresno State is being investigated for players buying college course work. It seems that an alumni from Las Vegas was footing the bill to get some players through college without them having to study. There are other allegations, also, and the rumors are flying hot and fast around here that Big Al will have to go. It is coming out that Roy Williams doesn't like Al Bohl, and that could be the kiss of death for anyone at the university, let alone for any resident of Lawrence, KS. They stop your car at the city limits here, and ask you if you love Roy Williams. If the answer is no, you get a police escort to the next county.” 7:04:16 AM 2/14/03 “Tigers win again with a squeaker over Tulane. UAB next week and the Cards a week from tomorrow.” 8:14:15 AM 2/14/03 “Massie had a good game. Did that win put Memphis in the conf lead?” 9:09:58 AM 2/14/03 “They already had the National Divison lead. Marquette and Louisville are slugging in out in the other division, arky. Probably Marquette or Louisville will win the conference outright. The conference tourny should be a great one.” 11:13:36 AM 2/14/03 “I think the sports writers are overlooking Conference USA just a little. Between Louisville, Marquette, and Memphis, there is going to be a lot of noise in the big dance. I wonder how much respect the Big 12 is going to get, this year? This is a league that is really beating up on itself, and could have a better non-conference record, (read: Jayhawks). Personally, I wish the Big 12 didn't have a conference tourney.” 11:18:44 AM 2/14/03 “This year's big dance is going to be interesting, from front to finish.” 11:23:07 AM 2/14/03 “And, as an added attraction, I will be BASKETBALL GOD when the dust settles!” 11:47:29 AM 2/14/03 “I just hope I don't finish last again.” 2:20:38 PM 2/14/03 “Yeah, Chili, we've been saying all year long that the only picking skills you have are with your nose. However, if I should be so lucky as to become divine, I will proclaim your pride to be off-limits to these scoundrels. We'll use the year to make fun of Alabama......” 5:47:02 PM 2/14/03 “Hey, Pathman! New Mexico and Kansas are going head to head for a recruit named Darnell Jackson. He plays high school ball in Oklahoma City. Do you know anything about him? It would be great to have another Darnell at KU....” 6:01:58 PM 2/14/03 “Tennessee is beginning to make some noise! They played a strong game against the Gators. KU vs Iowa State today. I hope they don't become the next victim to this "ranked team flu".” 10:45:25 AM 2/16/03 “Shhhh.... Don't tell anyone, but KU is all alone at the top of the Big 12 conference. (rock chalk jayhawk)” 7:40:24 AM 2/17/03 8:25:23 AM 2/17/03 UNM Lobos “Alas, we may have the #1 scorer in NCAA division one, but we suck.” 9:15:56 AM 2/17/03 “Note for the NCAA tournament: Double-team Ron Slay.....” 10:32:12 AM 2/17/03 “Slay is really beginning to improve his play. I don't think UT has the depth to cause a big stir in the tourny, but then again I see UT and Memphis being about evenly matched at this point in the season. Memphis probably has a little more depth in the backcourt. I am telling you folks,,,this year's big dance is going to be exciting!” 10:44:19 AM 2/17/03 “The tradition of the basketball/football God being one in the same will continue for another year. Here at Sports-Deities-R-Us we believe in the duality of the divine. Just believe.” 10:56:05 AM 2/17/03 “Crap, I meant for the Bama Football God to write that. As evidenced by my 48-1 bowl record, even the football God is not completely infallible.” 10:56:59 AM 2/17/03 “i hate basketball! cecpt for my teams i'm coachin....and cept for wed night when the hogs play KU but then i'll prolly hate it again about halfway through it when KU is up by 23 points.....[sigh]” 10:59:43 AM 2/17/03 “Ain't no Hogs playin' no KU on Wed night that I know of. You talkin' baseball? BTW, did you see where KU whupped up on LSU in baseball?” 11:12:18 AM 2/17/03 “AND....did you see where the Wichita State Shockers beat the #12 team in the nation? I tell you, the Shockers are coming back!!!” 11:15:00 AM 2/17/03 “Oh Dunny, Strat meant UK. Them mean wildcats are coming to the Ozarks.” 2:33:58 PM 2/17/03 “UK/KU, same result.” 2:41:09 PM 2/17/03 “Same result for AR for sure. Thank goodness Bama was on our schedule.” 2:51:47 PM 2/17/03 “Ouch! Yall are 2-8 in the SEC. That's pretty bad that we were one of the two. Yall didn't just win, yall spanked us!” 2:54:28 PM 2/17/03 “Hey, we'll be 2-9 after Wed. but I've got to get in my digs when I can.” 2:59:32 PM 2/17/03 “Hey, Arky! Good to see you Ozarks boys still rooting for your team. Kinda like rooting for KU in football......” 4:10:16 PM 2/17/03 “Apparently it was a nice game your boys played, Chili. I would have congratulated you earlier, but I just got back together with my ex-fiancee. I was...er...preoccupied and missed the game. I missed most of Sunday and Monday too. We hadn't seen each other in a loooong time. I can't help but think that this year's tournament will be as crazy as bowl season was. Very generous to offer me the football godship until the end of basketball season, Dayhiker. But that would not be a true representation. I am more than happy to share. Since I live in Florida and you live in Alabama, it seems only fitting that, for now, I should reign in paradise and you should reign in that other place. The one that's filled with Bear scat.” 5:17:58 AM 2/18/03 “Nice way to cut in there arc. The BAMA FOOTBALL GOD will claim the 2003 basketball tourney, wait and see!” 8:13:31 AM 2/18/03 “I just hope I don't finish last (again).” 9:23:16 AM 2/18/03 “Who was that team that Florida played? St. Mary's of the blind, deaf, and dumb? Bonner scores as many points in the game as the other team scores in the first half? Nice schedule, Gators! Getting warmed up to play the JV??? LOL” 11:22:30 PM 2/18/03 “Memphis at Louisville tonight. We have everything to gain and nothing to lose. I figure the Cards will hand the Tigers a pounding. However, if Memphis plays like it has the past few weeks, it could be a great game to watch.” 4:49:21 PM 2/19/03 “Memphis is playing well right now. Watch out when tournament time rolls around. Louisville only led twice last night .” 7:25:20 AM 2/20/03 “Yes Chili, Memphis is playing well. Looks like UT came back to Earth last night. The Hogs didn't have a prayer last night but at least they play hard. Dunadan, I read where we stole a recruit from KU 6'11" Steven Hill from Branson,MO. We have 2 top 20 rated guys coming in next year along with a 7' 300 lb. guy. The Hogs will be back. Stan Heath is da man.” 8:27:45 AM 2/20/03 “next year i'll love basketball! actually i think 2 years will be when he (heath) really makes a move.” 8:31:02 AM 2/20/03 “Arky and Strat. That is not fair. If we want him, we should get him by all rights. Anyway, congratulations. We have some monsters coming in, also. And....congratulations, Chili. In the tradition of loving basketball in Kansas, the Memphis-Louisville score was being constantly posted on our scoreboard as the game went on. It caused a lot of conversation in between screaming for the Jayhawks against Colorado. (Another one bites the dust!) I was thinking that Calipari's mob ties must be stronger than Pitino's. How else you gonna beat those guys on their home court? Seriously, the Tigers just out-worked the Cardinals. Look at the rebounding edge, and I think you can get the story of this game. Who is gonna come out the winner of the ACC??? The two strongest leagues, IMO, are the SEC and the Big Twelve, but they aren't far ahead of anybody. I think I will fill out my brackets this year with a blindfold and a dartboard..... And.....what's up with the Big Eleven?” 7:17:47 PM 2/20/03 “I predict some 8, 9, 10 seeds doing some damage this year.” 8:39:17 AM 2/21/03 “Lobos are showing some signs of life and maturation. A road game against UNLV tomorrow will be telling.” 10:40:59 AM 2/21/03 “The ACC is sad this year. NC State can be tied for first place if we win Friday, but can still easily miss out on the the freakin tourney if we don't go 4-2 the rest of the season.” 10:47:38 AM 2/21/03 “Yeah, Hyway, and Michigan is in first place in the Big Ten. It's a wild whacky world out there.” 1:56:01 PM 2/21/03 “The Memphis Tigers jump into the top 25 for the first time this year. They are playing pretty well right now.” 2:51:29 PM 2/25/03 Jump to Page << prev
