holy crap, it actually looks like a hanging tent!! i'm shocked...when people said "hammock" for camping, i was picturing just a regular, net hammock. LOL!! well, this makes more sense.

Aww man. The co. I ordered my Marmot stuff from had NONE of the stuff I ordered.

I ordered an ursack, and a new compass from moosejaw too :o) - happy days of frivilous spending before the war began.
The compass thing is strange. While I was back in Blighty declination adjustment only amounted to three or four degrees, so was easily to get around and only really mattered it you were travelling off a bearing, here it's like 15 degrees or something :o(

Got my Marmot Maverick 15 degree synth bag from Northern Mountain yesterday. For an $89 synth, it seems like a really nice bag. I climbed in it and sealed it up. I really like the draft collar they have around the face. Seals it up really tight and comfortable. I also like the colors.

But dayyyyymmmn, I'd forgotten how much bigger they are stuffed than down, not terribly so, tho.

Can I use a compression sack with this or am I not supposed to?

of course you can use a compression sack
just make sure you fluff it up and give it time to expand out. I use a compression on my wiggy's bag, all the time. Unless you got a crappy bag, it should be just fine.

I may be getting a new water filter. Can't find my sweetwater gravity feed filter.
Last time I remember using it was tied to a tree by my tarptent in the Sipsey Wilderness a few weeks back. Don't think I left it, but maybe. Might be under the truck seat, haven't checked there. ;)

I just thought I read stuff about compression sacks causing the threads to deteriorate faster.

I was wanting to look at a deva by Gregory, and I did...but they had a Juno by Jansport and I really liked it....the deva was small...so I opted for the Jansport

Always get the Gregory. Don't be fooled, other pack manufacturers are evil. When you wear their packs it actually feels like you're carrying weight on your back.

Six pounds 2 ounces is more pack than I care to carry but it does have all those 'women's pack' features.
If you are happy with it is all that matters.

I wanted larger for bulky items.......and it can be strapped down into a smaller pack.......the Deva was smaller than my Kelty in capacity

Have you loaded it up and walked around with it?
Put a couple of gallon jugs of water in it and walk a mile or so.

If it's still comfy, you have a winner!

I got new hikers!! Montrail Hardrock size 11. Mesh uppers for venting my sweaty dogs, molded protection plate to ward off sharp rocks, and loads of cushion for my rebuilt knee. They are quite light as well. heavier than my Saloman Flagstaffs, but the weight trade off is negated by the cushioning. I've only worn them to the gym, but dang they's comfy.

Ok...so is there anything I should know about packing an internal pack compared to an external?????
divinity

Yes, with an internal pack everything goes on the inside. With an external you just hang it on the outside.
