Your boots should be crampon compatable to work properly with those.

I have the Montrail torre gtx boots. i don't know if they are compatable or not. how do i tell. i need to cancel the order if they won't work

my torres have a half steel shank in them and the crampons say a full steel shank. will these work together?

I don't own mountaineering boots so hopefully someone with more details will chime in. From what I have seen, a crampon compatable boot will have a notch in the heel for the "step-in" part of the crampon to slip into.

I own strap-on crampons that work with almost any hiking boot.

If you check the Montrail site, you'll see that the Moraine's are crampon compatable with no mention about the Torre. You might want to reconsider these crampons for ones with straps. Too bad, that's a great price.

Got my oldest son a new Osprey Aether 75. A gift for reaching Life Scout at the age of 13. This is the pack he's been drooling over. He saw that REI had them on sale for 199 and was ready to buy but they didn't have his size. He was bummed. He didn't know that dad had already tracked down the last size med REI had in the country. We received it today. SCORE!

Our admin assistant just appeared at my door a few minutes ago with, not one, but TWO boxes!! One from REI, one from Campmor. The REI box had my new snow shovel, just in time for this weekend in Yosemite (assuming we don't have to cancel - a nasty storm is due on about Friday....). The Campmor one had my ultrapod (man is that thing light!) and some new polartec gloves for Cameron. WOO-HOO!!!

Cooo-ell, MartyB! I got new snowshoes and neoprene socks but haven't used them yet. I am making gaitors and have been busy with the kids' basketball season. Maybe this weekend I can get out and test drive these bizarre looking things.

no new gear for me anytime soon. :(
but my husband teached to today how to use a compass with a map. That's almost as good as new gear. So much easier then I thought it would be.

Yes, I admit I am bored.

I've always wondered what all the business are #&%!$ing about the econmony being bad. From just what I read on the forum, the amount of money thrown at gear could support the country of Latvia for 2 years :)

Garfum, awesome deals! 900 fill power eh? you're going to be so fluffy in that bag, I bet it's going to be mighty snuggly.

Going out today to try and find some kayak accesories. Wish us luck! Darn stores in our area refuse to put their paddling gear out until the thaw. We were kind of hoping to be in the water at first thaw, not shopping. =(

OH man:

Just scored two Marmor DriClime windshirts for me and the soon-to-be ms. for about 30% off.

Also, I went against all experience has taught me and got two Marmot Maverick 15 degree synth bags for the trip to SA for $100 a piece. I've always been disappointed in synth bags but I figure these will last at least a year and then I can chuck 'em if they are trashed. I really need a quick drying bag for this trip...

got my osprey aether 60
ordered my hennessy hammock, i wanted to safari asym but they're out so i got the lighter backpacker ultralight asym, wit the snakeskins, it won't be here for a week, though, but the shipping's free.
i was also gonna order a western mountaineering iroquois on clearance but i just got off the phone with them and i found out it's discontinued because they're gonna make it wider!! that was the one thing i had a hangup about. i've had my eye on this bag for a while and decided i'd better get it if it's discontinued, but now i'm gonna wait til it comes out next month.
i'd like the marmot oracle jacket, too, but i think that would be pressing my luck:)
im cut off until winter time.

Granite gear vapour trail arrived today - first impressions are that it's pretty well constructed, expansion collar seems to double the size of the pack. Seems to be made of good materials, lots of straps to tie down small loads, ties things on. So far quite impressed.
