“Your boots should be crampon compatable to work properly with those.”
“I have the Montrail torre gtx boots. i don't know if they are compatable or not. how do i tell. i need to cancel the order if they won't work”
“my torres have a half steel shank in them and the crampons say a full steel shank. will these work together?”
“I don't own mountaineering boots so hopefully someone with more details will chime in. From what I have seen, a crampon compatable boot will have a notch in the heel for the "step-in" part of the crampon to slip into.
I own strap-on crampons that work with almost any hiking boot.”
“If you check the Montrail site, you'll see that the Moraine's are crampon compatable with no mention about the Torre. You might want to reconsider these crampons for ones with straps. Too bad, that's a great price.”
“Got the Granite Gear "Precipice" on the way. On sale at Backcountry Gear for 99.00. Hope I can shave my three day set-up into it.”
“Got my oldest son a new Osprey Aether 75. A gift for reaching Life Scout at the age of 13. This is the pack he's been drooling over. He saw that REI had them on sale for 199 and was ready to buy but they didn't have his size. He was bummed. He didn't know that dad had already tracked down the last size med REI had in the country. We received it today. SCORE!”

“Our admin assistant just appeared at my door a few minutes ago with, not one, but TWO boxes!! One from REI, one from Campmor. The REI box had my new snow shovel, just in time for this weekend in Yosemite (assuming we don't have to cancel - a nasty storm is due on about Friday....). The Campmor one had my ultrapod (man is that thing light!) and some new polartec gloves for Cameron. WOO-HOO!!!”
“Great! i get teary-eyed just thinking about new gear. Congrats and thank you for sharing :)”
“Cooo-ell, MartyB! I got new snowshoes and neoprene socks but haven't used them yet. I am making gaitors and have been busy with the kids' basketball season. Maybe this weekend I can get out and test drive these bizarre looking things.”
“A camp saw.
New grear is so pimp!!!!
I will have new gear...
“I have $217 gear dollars at REI...tomorrow, I raid the St Louis store.”
“Mike - which GPS did you get? A pimp one, I presume....”
“Marty, did you get the new TerraQuest you asked for?”
“Clothes line....you mean rope?”
no new gear for me anytime soon. :(
“but my husband teached to today how to use a compass with a map. That's almost as good as new gear. So much easier then I thought it would be.
Yes, I admit I am bored.”
“What are you home alone Gemini?
You should be working out a way to block this Damn suitecase!”
“LOL LtHiker. too funny. Nope I am not home alone, but I should work and just can't get anything done today. Not sure why.
I already figured out a way to get rid of the suitcase but no one listend to me. :( well, only 2 more mondays and it's gone forever. For me: I just view this site with my clean browser (no flash) and voila...no suitcase :)”
“winter gear??? why are yall buying winter gear?? im burnin up down here in alabama!! if i wear jeans to hike in i die of a heatstroke!”
The Slumberjack 50th anniversary 15 deg sleeping bag.
Eureka Zeus 1 Exo Tent.
Oh ya love it!!!!!
“Congrats! There's nothing like new gear to make working hard, worthwhile. It kind of makes it easier to get up in the morning.”
“Ya no doubt I can't wait for the weekend.
“I did it!!! - Just ordered a clark jungle hammock deluxe and granite gear vapour trail pack - I just want it to get here here NOW!!!! - new ultralite poles tomorrow :o) spend spend spend - I'm gonna rivive this economy on my own!”
“I've always wondered what all the business are #&%!$ing about the econmony being bad. From just what I read on the forum, the amount of money thrown at gear could support the country of Latvia for 2 years :)”
“I got in my hiking poles this week!! Great poles...from Sierra Trading post...only 1 pound for the two of them. I can't wait to use them...damm rain for tomorrow!!”
“New P2 pack arrived last week (I'm lovin it), and a new Nalgene 96 oz, gaiters, and water filter cartidge on the way from Campmor. I'm broke now.”
“"I got in my hiking poles this week!! I can't wait to use them...damm rain for tomorrow!!"

Thermarest regular 3/4 with stuff sack $15.
Thermarest ultralight full length with stuff sack $15.
The whole fam damily has down bags and thermarests now!”
“WOW! GREAT SCORE, GARFUM!!!!”
rei dividend is gone...
“new Kelty Sunshade, and a titanium spork and LOTS of other things...
Infinity Alpha 50 Towers...
Life is good...see ya on the trail...”
“you all make me sick!!!”
“CMB - what about the Solitaire? I heard the single wall Zeus is prone to bad condensation - you'll have to let us know.”
“Garfum, awesome deals! 900 fill power eh? you're going to be so fluffy in that bag, I bet it's going to be mighty snuggly.
Going out today to try and find some kayak accesories. Wish us luck! Darn stores in our area refuse to put their paddling gear out until the thaw. We were kind of hoping to be in the water at first thaw, not shopping. =(”
“I just picked up the ground sheet for my new tent. Gonna try it out tonight, just the ground sheet and fly. Hopefully nothing furry decides to join me!”
Just scored two Marmor DriClime windshirts for me and the soon-to-be ms. for about 30% off.
Also, I went against all experience has taught me and got two Marmot Maverick 15 degree synth bags for the trip to SA for $100 a piece. I've always been disappointed in synth bags but I figure these will last at least a year and then I can chuck 'em if they are trashed. I really need a quick drying bag for this trip...”
“Now that a good deal.
I can't wait to get my new gear.
“got my osprey aether 60
ordered my hennessy hammock, i wanted to safari asym but they're out so i got the lighter backpacker ultralight asym, wit the snakeskins, it won't be here for a week, though, but the shipping's free.
i was also gonna order a western mountaineering iroquois on clearance but i just got off the phone with them and i found out it's discontinued because they're gonna make it wider!! that was the one thing i had a hangup about. i've had my eye on this bag for a while and decided i'd better get it if it's discontinued, but now i'm gonna wait til it comes out next month.
i'd like the marmot oracle jacket, too, but i think that would be pressing my luck:)
im cut off until winter time.”
“My silicone tarp arrived over the weekend. Now I have to seal the seams with a silicone sealer. It's always something!”
“Just remember Geo breath deeply and do it in a small enclosed room with no ventilation.”
“Granite gear vapour trail arrived today - first impressions are that it's pretty well constructed, expansion collar seems to double the size of the pack. Seems to be made of good materials, lots of straps to tie down small loads, ties things on. So far quite impressed.”
“Hey Ductape that is the best pack that I have ever used!
“your a bum and I hope your pack gives you backaches...
Kidding...I love my aether 36, great for ultralight... I just did a 16 mile backpack with mine...19lbs...man, It felt great to have that little weight on my back...Hope you enjoy it too.”
“so if I order a hammock on Friday, which was sent Friday, on three-day delivery.... it should be here by now shouldn't it????”
“Hey Stiky you can go that light I thought that you always brought the sink and all when you pack?
“Hammock is here - would it be wrong to set it up in my office :o)”
