Turn around, don't whisper out my name
For like a breeze, it might stir a dying flame
I'll miss someone, if it eases you to know
So, close the door lightly when you go

Take your tears to someone else's eyes
They're made of glass
And are cut like wounded lies
Memories are drifting like the snow
So close the door lightly when you go

Who was the one that stole my mind
Who was the one that robbed my time
Who was the one who made me feel unkind
So fare thee well, sweet love of mine

Don't look back to where you once have been
Look straight ahead
When you're walking through the rain
And find a light
If the path gets dark and cold
But close the door lightly when you go

Who was the one that stole my mind
Who was the one that robbed my time
Who was the one who made me feel unkind
So fare thee well, sweet love of mine

Turn around, don't whisper out my name
For like a breeze, it might stir a dying flame
I'll miss someone, if it eases you to know
So, close the door lightly when you go

Who was the one that stole my mind
Who was the one that robbed my time
Who was the one who made me feel unkind
So fare thee well, sweet love of mine

Ten men rode their way down the mighty Colorado

To Mr. Powell's

The way he talked about the river I could tell

The revelations he must have felt within himself

The realization of what man's supposed to do, I feel it too…

Can you imagine walls that went so high

The sky would be nothing more than a single thin blue line

I am looking for a song, of which I neither know the titel nor the band. The song was played in the Forest Gump movie, during the scene when Forest just arrived in Vietnam and some helicopters flew by in formation.
It may be a song from Clearwater Revival Band?
Any ideas?

Fortunate Son it is.

That is one of John Fogarty's great anti-war songs.

John Fogerty IS Creedence Clearwater !!!

He has been rockin' for over forty years and he is still a dynamo!

Look at who he dedicates this song to.

Fortunate son
(J.Fogerty, Creedence Clearwater Revival)

G F
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
C7 G
ooh, they're red, white and blue.
G F
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief"
C7 G
they point the cannon right at you.

G D7 C7 G
It ain't me, it ain't me, I'm no senator's son.
G D7 C7 G
It ain't me, it ain't me, I'm no fortunate one.

Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don't they help themselves.
But when the tax man comes to the door:
"Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale."

It ain't me, it ain't me, I'm no millionaire's son.
It ain't me, it ain't me, I'm no fortunate one.

(break: G Gdim C G)

Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
ooh, they send you down to war.
And when you ask them: "How much should we give?"
Oh, they only answer: "More, more, more"

It ain't me, it ain't me, I'm no military's son.
It ain't me, it ain't me, I'm no fortunate one.

Fortunate Son was written about forty years ago about another unnecessary war.

I'm sure there are some of the less well-known singer/songwriters as well as others who have had something to say in song about recent wars.

I can't think of any off hand.

Thank goodness for the artists in our world.

I really enjoy most 60's antiwar songs. They are so heart felt.

System of a Down has current anti-war songs. BYOB is pretty awesome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJ5Tp97UgyQ

Only they aren't these guys aren't two smart. The lyric that's starts it is "Why do they always send the poor" Dudes don't even know its an all volunteer military.

I haven't been able to listen to anything else for the last three days. This album is just overwhelmingly great. Every time I listen to it I find another layer of sound.

Their Red album good. Some of the songs have longer intros, which I generally hate, but it's still just as good. They are just jaw dropping live.
