Daylight Savings Time Sucks

“Nothing like going out for a 2 hour hike and getting to the area around dusk!”

“It takes me a few days to get use to it. Does anybody really know why the time change is needed? And how much daylight are we saving by turning the clockes back an hour.”

“Supposedly, it cuts down on energy usage by reducing the need for extra lights in the morning when people are getting around for work.”

Daylight Savings Time is an Extremist Right Wing Republican concoction to make the working class toil longer so that the corrupt American government and big business can whip up support for an immoral war in Afghanistan in order to build a pipeline. Ultimately, it is all Israel's fault.

“I read a Reader's Digest story a long time ago that suggested DST was promoted by the retail merchant lobby. Somehow they thought people spent more; I can't remember the logic.

When I lived in Indiana we ignored DST.

Is this an actual law?

Are there any organizations fighting this?

“Le Subtil, it does promote the retail merchant lobby. If it is nice and sunny outside, you are less likely to visit the mall until after sundown. With DLST, people come to the mall 1 hour earlier, in theory, and the malls can rake in profits.

I wish we were on Daylight Savings Time all year. Remember when Nixon instituted it to conserve energy but everyone was up in arms about little kids waiting for the school bus in the dark?

If it were up to me we'd change the clocks 4 times a year so it would be light until 10pm or so during the summer. Who needs light at 5 am?”

Central Indiana is geographically in Central time, but legally in Eastern time. Legally, central Indiana is on Eastern Standard Time all year, but in effect it is on Central Daylight Time all year long.

I hate DST. I love 5 AM sunrises.”

Poor Indiana caught in the middle... so why TF does the DOT control daylight savings time zones?”

“i'm soooo glad that we are finally going to be a part of the rest of the world...you don't know how confusing it can be when someone asks what time zone you are in...it's going to be so nice having that extra hour...i think it's gonna suck for those people in the southwest part of the state who are going to be on central time, although they're economically tied to illinois so it is of some benefit...one thing that is gonna suck is all the monday night football games are gonna be on at 9:00 now”

“the whole point of going to dst was to eliminate confusion for neighboring states, therefore businesses with out of state customers would not suffer (in theory). so what do we do? while most of the state is going to est, 8 counties get to go to cst, creating what? confusion! that was the whole fcking point, eliminate confusion!

i was against dst from the start, so i came to accept that, then i preferred cst, but we went to est (mostly), and finally the last straw for me was when we let 8 counties go against the grain. pick one, people, and everybody follow it! they went about this all wrong. im protesting by going on my own time. right now, in crashbang county, it is 30 x pi after grape. sunset is at aries rising, sunrise is betelgeuse past fahrfoognoogen”
