“For me - I will be in Harriman NY watching the leaves turn. We had a frost this weekend and it is suppose to be beautiful this upcoming one. Bringing the boys - Lemon squeezer - camping high - should be a good one! Say Hi if you see me!”

“A bunch of six year old Brownies and their parents are camping in tents in my backyard.”

“Bachelor party weekend...in the Allegheny National Forest of PA.”

“Preparing for my weeklong trek to the Big Bend of Texas!!”

“If you ask the parents of my girl scouts why they signed their kids up, they usually say that the girls enjoy arts and crafts. I see my job as educating these parents to the idea that girl scouts also includes developing the girls to be self reliant, capable of surviving even in adverse conditions, confident in their strength and abilities. Some parents actually think that these are radical ideas. M&M mentioned that you work on a progression outline, to get from today, to the pre-teen years, with the scouts. Hence the backyard campout as a start.”

“The only camping I ever did as a kid was in the backyard. I loved it! I wish I would've had a scout leader like you! All we ever did was arts and crafts. Oh and trips to the local nursing home and petting farm.”

“I'm going backpacking on the AT with running girl, boy and a couple of other TT'ers.”

“Thanks Joy! The girl scout organization does put a lot of emphasis on service projects. But the churches and PTA's do a lot of this too, so there is a lot of overlap. No one seems to do the outdoors-wilderness activities, in my area, except the boy scouts. So my girl scout troop will focus on that, and we'll see how the kids and parents handle it.”

“This weekend is our yearly 3 day canoe trip, Black Canyon AZ. Hot springs soaking, canyon exploration and tomfoolery. White wine tasting Fri, Red Wine tasting Sat + potluck. Champagne brunch as we tie the canoes together and float down the CO River Sun. The theme and costumes are sort of Neanderthal Man lost in the Jurassic or 1 Million Years B.C. meets Quest for Fire for you movie buffs. New trip leader this year, 9 canoes instead of 16. Last years trip on my website.”

“I've got to go to National Guard drill, and I am in a good friends wedding. Not a whole bunch of fun but I got to be a responsible adult sometimes. HAHA”

“I have kids to watch on Sat., then probably going on a all day hike on Sun. Either to Lake 22 or Independance lake, or another big hike.”

“Finishing up some 'honey-do' projects so I can be in the woods all NEXT week.”

“This weekend I'll be on a family vacation in the Smokies. My mother is getting to be elderly and my brother and I would like her to see the mountains while she's still in good health. No backpacking, though.

After that it's off to the RRG ECT next weekend. Will drive up to the Gorge from Tennessee.”

“UK and I will be working on the house 1 day, then fun the next day. A hike up Pleasant Mtn, the Fire Tower Trail on the backside of where we ski in the winter!! Kinda low key weekend compared to others. Something else will probably come up among our adventures.”

“I will be donating time helping Arizona families that are affected by the 9-11 disaster. Many America West & South West ex-employee?s live here & not many people see them as victims. On Sunday I might take a hike down to the swimming hole near seven springs & enjoy some of the supper nice weather we are having in Arizona.”

“Going to Memphis for the NASCAR Busch race and then to Tunica for some blackjack and hookers.”

“Pine Mountain Trail near Pound Gap , VA. Gonna see KY to the left of me and VA to the right of me all weekend long! Can't wait to see the leaves changing there. The last time I saw anything peak I was at a Dead Show.”

“Well at least I'll be able to claim some "tent time." Just that the tent will be a big one set up on the town green for Oktoberfest! The Hacker-Pschorr distributor is a major sponsor with our Chamber, so the brews will be palatable, as long as I can put up with the polka bands. This weekend, everyone will be German in Rhinelander.”

“That brings back memories, m&m. I've driven through Harriman, in the Fall, many times. It's nice to bring a picnic and stop by one of the lakes.

I'll be kayaking the Rainbow River (another crystal clear river). Hopefully, we'll have sunny skies and temps in the low 80's. Life is sooo sweet.”

“An 11 mile dayhike with some TTers on saturday. Church and family time on Sunday.”

“The leaves of all the dicidous trees in my yard, and around it (about 75) - aspens, willows, and cottonwoods - are all turning yellow, gold and orange.

AND THEY'RE DROPPING THOSE DAMNED LEAVES ALL OVER MY LAWN a half acre of sh!t I have to rake up until the trees are finally naked.

I will be raking leaves part of the weekend.

What remains of the weekend will be spent charging around with a chain saw in the pick-up, with a million other pick-ups and chain saws, on local dirt roads, dust clouds everywhere, looking for downed trees.

Firewood season only lasts two more weeks.

We will be fighting meat bees, throwing rounds, and getting sawdust up the kazoo.”

“Well, we are off at 300 today. Weather is clear, 70 degrees during the day with 45 degrees for low. The leaves are perfect, have some great meals planned and some good company with me.

“Cleaning the cellar, stove and chimney, throwing in five cord of wood, and cleaning the damn purple bird poop off my car. Or maybe I'll just go hiking.”

“Already cleaned the chimney's. Replaced the wood stove down stairs with a gas stove. Now I need to get out to my bud's house and split the four cords of cotton wood for the upstairs stove.

But, I since the weather is going to be really sh!tty, I'll probably just sit at home on my nuts and watch television.”

Tonight: field hockey game, football game, diving practice, two dances, laundry.

Tomorrow: cross country meet, two dentist appointments, birthday party, laundry.

Sunday: church, tutoring, cleaning house, laundry.

This is just the stuff I already know about. They'll all come up with more stuff to do, 'cause otherwise they'll be bored...

And oh yeah, I need to catch up on my bookkeeping so I can file my taxes, which were already extended.”

“I just had a parent of a brownie girl scout call and ask if there would be bears in my yard during our backyard campout.

"Well, I assure you that I did not invite any bears, and in any event, they can't join us because they did not pay for girl scout insurance."”

“I'm off to Jefferson Park in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness. Usually a place that is packed but figure on a drizzely Oregon weekend, the crowds may be thin.”
