I wanted to do a lot of hiking this weekend, but this darn smoke will put a damper on that, unless I want to travel out of town. I'll probably do some writing, maybe record some music.

Buffalo burgers in Leadville, FTW! It's been months since I had meat.

Oh and I'm vegan for this weekend. ;) And tapering down training...

What a COOL weekend. An old friend I hadn't seen for YEARs calls me a few days ago to kibbitz about life. So we, on the spur of the moment decided to take off to the mountains this weekend.

Did some day hikes, actually had a couple of nice campfires. It looks like you guys had a raving blast of life whilst I was gone.

Three days of camping on the beach with a great group of friends. Shore casting, stunt kites, sand castles, bonfires, libations, fresh grilled fish and mussels, mmmm. To top it off, sunny days and warm nights. Ahhh yeah. Screw the snow!!

I'll be an unofficial Boulder-ite starting this weekend through the following Saturday.

If the week is nice, I'll be walking dogs and watching paragliders jump off the side of a perfectly good hill.

Sat morning - lots of yard work and maybe work on cleaning the basement. I suspect I'll be doing some type of pork product on the smoker. No, that wasn't an innuendo comment.

Sat afternoon - Eating said pork product, drinking a beer or two and watching Bama play football on CBS.

Sun morning - church

Sun afternoon - attending a kids birthday party 8(

Last weekend was a great three days of camping with a friend so this weekend will be lawn care. I am losing the jack russel terrier in the back yard...

LOL nothing that better combines pathetic with funny more than watching tall grass shake as the little guy runs around trying to figure his way back to the house.

I used to work with a lawyer who had a condo on the 12th floor in Sandestin. We got busted by the fire department one year by grilling on the balcony.

Alcohol was involved.

So much choice.
I could stay in bed and sleep out long into the morning. I am not yet back on the old time line and still feel slightly yet lag in the mornings.
Since the weather is so nice I could do a hike in the mountains - either one nearer by, that I have already done a few times, or another hike, a bit further from here, that I always wanted to do.
Or I could simply do a long walk through the historic town centre and along the river. Which reminds me, I had a wonderfull long walk through Boston with a friend last Sunday. We walked around a pond where there was the regulare Sunday crowd: families with kids, couples, joggers, dogs. Then walking through a quiet neighbourhood, with a stop over at a coffee shop, and walk through a rather large park, up onto a hill, from which we had a nice view down at Boston. I think Boston is my favourite US city.

Have you been to Chicago?

Not this time. I came through Chicago once, but that is many years ago. All I remember is that I was very impressed by Chicagos skyline of high rise buildings.

What I loved about Boston was the fact that it has something like a city centre, with lots of small shops, restaurants, bars and beautifull neighbourhoods and green spaces. It was fun to walk around town and the fact that it is possible to walk around town, rather than having to drive everywhere.
Actually all I saw of Massachusets and New Hampshire was beautifull. I took a bus from Boston to Conway, NH and what I saw was lots of forests and lovely little villages surrounded by more forests. Everything was green and clean and people were friendly. It's a great place to do a lot of outdoor stuff and indeed I got the chance to do several day hikes, kayaking and camping, because I met people who were happy to show me around.

On the trail head the sign said 2:10 hrs to the hut. I made it in 1:20 hrs. I overtook a group of 20ish somthing youngster on the way up. At the hut I had an Apfelsaft and a Soup. On the way down I passed the same group of kids again - they still had one third of the trail ahead of them.
