“cold october morning today, very cloudy and wet. today is long-run day so i'll prolly try to get in 22 miles in the trails at a local forest preserve. 2.5 miles to the trails from my house (5 round-trip) so 17 miles of trails to run. a few loops around lakes but mostly an out-and-back. i think the water fountains are now turned of but they were on last weekend.”

Maybe some kayaking tomorrow...we've got passing showers this morning. Likely they'll fade out before they hit the beach..maybe.”

“We sold our place in Townsend, so NGB and I are going to move the rest of the stuff to storage.

In about 5 months, I get to move again.....just don't know where yet.”

“did the run... gimpy as heck now. took a nice nap (basically passed out after the run). then ate dinner. played guitar hero with the kids. hung out with the boy scouts setting up "bat houses" in the park. now i have gotten all dressed up for my wife who has told me i will be charming, talk to people, and behave myself at one of these awful cocktail parties she got us invited to. i will comply but it will involve drinking a lot of bourbon at the bar of my host. this is a problem i can live with.”

“i will add that i have also been told that i WILL be ready to go at 7... this i also complied with, however it is now 7:12 and she is still not ready to go. women... some things never change. thank goodness! i wouldn't have her be any other way!”

well i worked on cleaning things up around here, throwing out old papers, moving things from wherever to their true place, folding clothes and putting them away etc. basically ruined my whole day and nothing looks any better really.

i have no idea what tomorrow holds, i am completely at the mercy of my inlaws. i really shouldn't be so btchy about it considering the circumstances, but i always feel like someone else is controlling my life and more than anything i really need space. i never truly get it.

the day would have been better spent on a hike. i would feel better now if i had and i could be cleaning up now instead. but you know murphy's law. if i did, they would have shown up and thought, "what a lazy btch she never does nothing, and she only thinks about herself".

if i can get away tomorrow i will. hmmmmmm, beach or hills?”

“Went out to Walnut Cove, NC yesterday, to Tarheel koi farms. We had our koi club meeting there, but it quickly devolved into a party. Got 2 cute little crapshoot-sized fish, too. Many koi have a tendency to change color as they grow, so when you buy them small, you're taking a gamble as to what you'll eventually end up with.”

“brian has just been able to get his gocart to run about 40 feet down the sidewalk! LOL! sorry to break in here, but the kid has been working on this all week, he built it from an old pedal car he found in the dumpster and the engine is from a broken scooter.”

“It was windy, cool and partly cloudy at the beach. Good weather for a jog, but there was a surfing contest going on. The waves were sloppy but bigger than usual. This wasn't one of those days when I think I should take up surfing.”

“i took my hike. did Rancho De Los Penasquitos. i think i really f'd up my left knee & hip bad (again) when i was climbing on the rocks around the falls. but i had a great time! i'm uploading a whole mess of pics. should be at least five good ones right? LOL!”

Heading up to Bear's Den Hostel on Friday.. Hiking 16 miles Saturday before heading into Harpers Ferry to shop, hit a pub and watch football..
