Building 2 lofthomes in my church parking lot with friends, my son BrianSean is working with me. These are 12x12 buildings, a single room with a loft, that we began cutting this afternoon and laying out. Tomorrow we will nail it all together. In October we will take them down to Mexico and finish them, putting them onto foundations, and then present them to two families. Families that have been actually living in cardboard houses at the dump. I'm really excited about it.

Tomorrow will be a welcome back celebration for a former sunday school student of mine ( a pain in the arse in his day). He called me outta the blue (been 6 yrs)last night to let me know he returned from Iraq the day before, he really wants us there. I cant think of a place i'd rather be. Cant wait to see him.

Commo is some fun stuff. I was RTO for 9mos, loved it. We had just dumped the PRC77 and KY 57 for the SINGARS ( I cant recall the spelling) what a great setup, at least at the time.

i had a lot of fun building those lofthomes today, and i only smashed my finger one time! it did rain, and yes we did continue working in the rain. BrianSean did fairly well, he started to get all whiny about half way through and sat down. i gave him about 7 minutes while i took my ciggarette break. then i walked up and said, let's find a place where they still need help and get back to work, he said no, i said yes, he said no, i said yeah and grab the hammer and get up now. he did (reluctantly) and we went back to work. he was much better after that. happier even.

I would say working but that would be a lie. It's more like using up corporate band width and NOT getting paid for it.

Story of my life, Sarge. That is the plan for tomorrow and Tuesday. Today I'm stuck at this dumb azz J-O-B.
Had to work today as a shift trade so I can be a "bridesman" in a friends wedding in a couple weeks. Yup, I get to wear a tux and stand on her side. That will be different.

Hey Shawn, we finished our laminate floors too (minus the trim and transition pieces). Now I'm an expert too! It's not as simple as people say (snap the pieces together, and voila!). Yeah, right. Not too bad though.

I moved. Friday I rented a UHaul and moved 2 loads in a 17' truck to the new house. We closed on the existing house, closed on teh new house, and went home. Sat I took the 1 year old to the pediatrician with the croup then met the inlaws with the kids. I got back home by 11:00. The moving company had already completed their first load while my wife directed traffic. By 2:00 they were on their way. 1k well spent. We spend the rest of the weekend installing stuff and making runs to the old stuff to pickup, pickup truck loads of things still left to move. We should be fully out by Sat. I did get to take a dip or two in the pool this past weekend. Yay!!!

I went to Indiana to visit my son. We ate dinner on a deck out over the Ohio R. On the way home I stopped at Mammoth Cave and went on a tour. Sunday after church, went to the Union Hall to check on our new contract then kept the grandbaby all afternoon. My neighbors are moving and left me 10 hugh steaks, I cut their grass for them most of the summer since he had a motorcycle accident. Grilled out steaks on Sunday night then took Ella back home. Great weekend overall. Last weekend I finally got to paddle, hike, flyfish Hazel Ck. in the Smokies. We didn't catch anything but still had an awesome trip. Next weekend (leaving Wed.) I go to Talladega and volunteer at the race. I am on the Pit Tour Club and we take 25-30k on tours before the race. 1,000 miles of racin' takes a lot of work, but a lot of fun!

Finish up painting the house. Well, probably won't finish, but should finish the 2 sections next to the roof and the window borders. Might get a first coat on the front door. Maybe I can finish hooking up the back yard sprinklers to the new water service - that won't take too long.

I was in a friend's Renaissance-themed wedding... It was a lot of fun-- they had home-made red & white wine, mead and 2 styles of beer....2 big roasted suckling pigs...bread, cheese--lots of fun! I was part of the bridal party, and dressed in my "wench's costume". :-) Hubby borrowed a friend's costume... The bride & groom had a lot of pomp and circumstance with their wedding, a medieval musical group... One of the most unusual weddings that I have attended (no exchange of rings, but the groom gave the bride a bag of coins (ceremonial) and their wrists were bound by rope... They also had a sword fight...

Driving home over the weekend, to visite family and friends. Hope they won't stop me at the border control - I have stashed 6 lbs of swiss Raclett cheese for a Saturday dinner party at my parents home. Not sure if there are limitations on how much cheese one is allowed to take across.

Heading up to Kelleys Island this weekend. Staying at East Harbor SP tonight and taking the ferry over in the morning. Hiking the 9 mile trail on the island and then hitting a winery or two. Should be a great time!! :D

On Sunday, I come home, drop off those who are driving up with me, and heading straight south for VA. Meeting up with the Fridge on Monday morning at 7 am for a shuttle and hitting 50 miles of AT bliss. :D

Looking forward to a fantastic week!
