Description
Chequamegon National Forest in Taylor County has a lot to explore. Two major eskers (former glacier river now a tall ridge) are a highlight. Primitive preservation area loop off the IAT. Dispersed camping and official campgrounds. Lodge with showers, awesome pizza, swim beach and watercraft rental. Wolf howls, black bear, porcupine.
Nearby Timm's Hill Trail is 10 miles in length, connects IAT to WI high point.
Wood Lake county park has camping, shelter area, beach and the lake itself is undeveloped--a rarity to enjoy. Old logging railroad history.
Beautiful fall color scenery. Get an official atlas and check it out!

Directions to Hike
From Medford, take Hwy 13 north until a left turn onto Cty M (west). [Brown National Forest Campground =15 miles sign] At Cty E, turn right (north). At Park Road turn right (east) and follow signs to lodge/picnic area.
